A collection of abstract paintings by Rancho Mirage artist, Jan Slawson. Her work is in the versatile acrylic medium painted on canvas, unless otherwise noted, combining a fusion of form, color, line and rhythm.

Jan Slawson started as a photographer of black and white film using her darkroom to show the beauty of the Sierra Nevada mountains from backpacking trips.  Then she discovered canvases and acrylic paints!  Since then, her vision and purpose has been to evoke emotion through her abstract art.  Color, form, composition all play a part in connecting artist to viewer. Her various moods or time frames are shown with blacks and shades of white for subtle inspiration, or vivid colors that help viewers take notice and cause them to study the nuances and make their own decisions as to what is portrayed.  Her goal is for the viewer to enjoy her art as much as she enjoyed painting it.

Her paintings reflect a vivid palette that blends color and line to create a composition that is independent from realism, but evokes emotion with the inspiration from unique forms, sculpture, nature and mood.
